Recently I watched this anime called: Ookiku Furikabutte [Big Windup!] - おおきく振りかぶって. It's a great anime that emphasizes on the friendship the team made from being complete strangers and their desire to win. Rather than those flashy moves and exotic emphasis on each of the characters' faces, a.k.a how handsome they are.

Introduction:The story revolves around the lead character called Ren Mihashi who refused to give up the mould even though his team, Mihoshi academy(in Gunma). They had been losing for all 3 years because of his pitching. His team generally hated him with and only his only(regarded as) friend(Shu-chan),Kanou(the other pitcher who competed with Mihashi for the ace number) acknowledging him. Most of the team members think that Mihashi became the ace because of a favour - Mihashi's grandfather owned the school and thus hated and mistreated him. Mihashi had to go through the trouble to change his high school to escape the guilt of causing his team mates to lose interest in baseball. He entered Nishiura High school[his mom graduated from that high school] with only the thought of just looking at the baseball club's activities. Everything went unexpected when the coach of the team dragged him to meet the other members. He faced quite a dilemma as he was the only pitcher and that was the only place he could ever pitch at. He was torn between not wanting to bring the team down and not wanting to gve up pitching.
He later chose to quit and begun tearing up. This is when the other main character comes into play. He's Takaya Abe, the catcher in the team. The moment he caught Mihashi's first pitch attempt. He sort of fell in love with his 'magical' pitches. He told Mihashi that he would make him a true ace. Together, Abe and Mihashi formed a rather interesting battery which would be able to overcome every problem in their way. Let's just say that Abe totally dominated over Mihashi and Mihashi tries all ways to please Abe.
The characters have common characteristics and personalities as real life people. Mihashi has a personality which is rather extreme but there are such people who are very timid. Of course they'll always irritate people with short and hot temper and almost zero patience - Abe. While he gets irritated, he never creases to calm down after realizing he can't be so rough with a delicate Mihashi. Their relationship is really worth questioning. It's definitely more than just friends or a battery. They started out with Abe ignoring the fact that they had to be friends and Mihashi not being able to fully trust Abe because he's afraid of getting hurt - being hated again. There's Mizutani, the forever sleepy, music-loving and muddle-headed personality. There's Izumi and Tajima who are both cheeky and serious in their own way.
It's an interesting and very comical anime you just have to catch!

There is also an OVA/ep 26 but it doesn't involve Nishiura rather it involves Musashino Daichi High school. Those interested in Haruna and gang definitely have to check it out. For Nishiura team fans, it's a rather informative episode about the opponents team so... I guess it's not for you but it doesn't hurt to watch it!
